Men in the UK will soon be able to buy Viagra over the counter for the first time after the erectile dysfunction drug was reclassified.
Those aged 18 and over will no longer need to see a GP for a prescription after the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced that it is changing the status of Viagra Connect tablets so they can be sold in pharmacies following a conversation with a pharmacist.
US pharmaceutical company Pfizer said it is working on plans to launch the non-prescription version of the medicine in the UK in the spring of 2018. A four-pack of the sildenafil tablets will cost around £19.99 and an eight-pack £34.99. Men who buy it will be advised that they can take a 50 mg tablet an hour before having sex, but should not use more than one pill a day. Sildenafil is already available on NHS prescription free of charge.
The decision to reclassify the drug follows a public consultation, the MHRA said. Pharmacists will be able to determine whether treatment is appropriate for the patient and can give advice on erectile dysfunction, usage of the medicine, potential side effects and assess if further consultation with a general practitioner is required.
“The move to make Viagra Connect more widely accessible will encourage men to seek help within the healthcare system and increase awareness of erectile dysfunction.”
Mick Foy, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency
But some men, including those with severe heart problems, those at high risk of heart problems, liver failure, kidney failure or those taking certain “interacting medicines”, will still need to be prescribed the drug under the supervision of a doctor.
It is hoped that making the drug more widely available will mean than men who may have not previously sought help will be more likely to do so. Health officials also hope the move will also help steer people away from buying drugs websites operating illegally.
The MHRA said that erectile dysfunction medicines are a “popular target” for criminals selling unlicensed and counterfeit medicines, over the past five years the Agency has seized more than £50m of unlicensed and counterfeit erectile dysfunction medicines.
“This decision is good news for men’s health,” said Mick Foy, MHRA’s group manager in vigilance and risk management of medicines. “The move to make Viagra Connect more widely accessible will encourage men to seek help within the healthcare system and increase awareness of erectile dysfunction.
“Erectile dysfunction can be a debilitating condition, so it’s important men feel they have fast access to quality and legitimate care, and do not feel they need to turn to counterfeit online supplies which could have potentially serious side effects.”
Dr Berkeley Phillips, UK medical director at Pfizer, said: “The availability of Viagra Connect in pharmacies from next year will offer men who are eligible for the product a new and convenient way to access sildenafil, a commonly prescribed treatment for erectile dysfunction.
“We understand some men may avoid seeking support and treatment for this condition, so we believe giving them the option to talk to a pharmacist and buy Viagra Connect could be a real step forward in encouraging more men into the healthcare system.
“As erectile dysfunction may be a sign of an underlying condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease, there could also be a wider benefit to public health in the long term. We hope that this forthcoming new opportunity to purchase a genuine treatment via pharmacy will also reduce the likelihood of men turning to potentially ineffective and dangerous counterfeits from illicit sources.”
More than $1.3 in financial aidViagra Connect is now availableThe decision to reclassify the drug, which was introduced in the UK as the Pfizer Pfizer product, is a major step in the medicine making journey down a potent circuit. This has brought in considerable savings for the patient, with the cost of the medicine dropping by half as many as in the past five years.
moreThis has brought in. The cost of 50 mg of Viagra Connect an hour before having to see a doctor has dropped by the same amount as this but this time by less.
A man is suing to give away one of the more expensive medicines for impotence, a new drug trial has found. The trial has been launched in magaluf, which has been nicknamed the "Maggie the Cat" due to the cost of the treatment.
Researchers in Spain and Brazil found that men who used the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra had a 50 per cent higher rate of impotence than the average. The drug also gave the man a lower rate of sexual desire and arousal than the average.
The results, which were presented at the annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of Sexual Health, are published online March 4.
"Our results show that Viagra can be bought at a high price without any problems. The drug works very well on a large number of men. It is sold at a very low price, and it can be bought at a very high price for a few men," says lead researcher, Professor Paul Dolin.
He adds: "The fact that the Viagra works for men with erectile dysfunction means that you can purchase it at a very low price. I am not sure whether this is a good idea to do business with Pfizer."The drug is available in four doses: 25mg, 50mg, 100mg and 150mg.
It is being made in the USA under the name Viagra. Viagra is also marketed in the UK and the US as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.
The drug's side effects are similar to those of Viagra, which are impotence. Viagra can cause heart attacks, strokes and impotence.
Researchers are now hoping that this new trial will help men to avoid the high costs of the drug and also give them a more affordable treatment, which can work in many cases.
New research has found that men who used Viagra for impotence had a lower rate of sexual desire and arousal, but did not have a higher rate of premature ejaculation.Viagra is approved in the UK by the MHRA and is available by prescription only. It is taken daily in the form of tablets. Viagra can take up to 10 years to get approved, and in some cases, can even be stopped entirely.
"In the past, men who had erectile dysfunction had the lowest rate of sexual desire and ejaculation. The drug has now changed that," says Dr. Andrew Lister.
He adds: "The Viagra has saved men and their families the suffering and anguish of impotence, and has given them a new hope of erectile function."
A separate study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that Viagra can help men who have tried it to keep their erection long enough for sex.
Researchers say they have received reports of men having problems with ejaculation, and have decided to investigate the link.
Viagra, a drug that works by increasing blood flow to the penis, is being made in the US under the name Viagra. It is available by prescription only.It can also cause sexual problems in some men, including:
The drug is also being made in Italy and sold under the name Viagra.
It can cause sexual problems in some men, including:
The researchers say their research is still being carried out and hope the new trial will help men to avoid the high costs of the drug.
Dr. John Smith, an NHS consultant, says: "In men with erectile dysfunction, it is not uncommon to have problems with ejaculation. This is a very serious condition and men should seek advice from their doctors before they change their medication. It may be helpful for them to buy Viagra from a reputable online pharmacy. It is important to buy the drug from a reliable source, and not to buy it from unregulated sources."

One of the first erectile dysfunction treatments, Viagra, has been recalled after being recalled by the company.
Erectile dysfunction has become a top-priority medical condition in Mexico and Asia. Viagra has been used by nearly all of the top 100 male U. S. men in recent years, but there were fears that men in the U. were getting too close to having sex with their partners.
The company said the safety of the Viagra has been reviewed and the recall is in place.
The recall was based in the United States and is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
The affected products include Viagra and sildenafil, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction, and sildenafil, which is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. Viagra also contains the active ingredient sildenafil, which has been linked to heart attacks and strokes in men.
There are currently no approved treatments for erectile dysfunction, but there are several drugs that can help improve blood flow to the penis, such as Viagra. One of Viagra’s most popular products is Viagra’s brand-name version. The company said it has not received any reports of adverse events related to the recall.
Viagra’s manufacturer, Bayer, said it has received reports of heart problems in men using Viagra and that the company has received no reports of adverse events related to the recall.
Other manufacturers, such as Merck & Co.’s Sanofi-Aventis’ drug Cozaar, also have recalled products containing sildenafil. Other drugs that have been used for erectile dysfunction include Levitra, Cialis, and Staxyn, Bayer said in a statement.
The affected products are called Viagra, Viagra for Men, and Viagra for All.
